Baby Martin #2 Update

I know I haven't put many updates regarding Baby #2 on the blog! Mainly because it has gone by so fast I haven't really had time to think about it! And second because thankfully all appointments are routine and everything is going good!

Not that things aren't going good now, it's just that I will be 31 weeks on Monday!!!!!!!! and I thought I would update everyone!

#1 It's still a girl :)

#2 Heartrate at the last appt. was 152 bpm. Her heartrate has been pretty consistent in the 140-150 range.

#3 My blood pressure and heart rate are still in the normal range!

#4 I passed my Gestiational Diabetes test. However, my iron numbers are REALLY low so I am having to take iron supplements now! No biggie once I figured out I could take them kind of on my own schedule and not what the nurse originally told me!!!

#5 Dr. Smith informed us that she may do my C-Section as early as May 21st!!! I know it is only a week and a half early, but it just sounds so much earlier than June 1st! She said anywhere between May 21st - May 29th! I said, "That's a really big window" and she said she would just have to see how things are going! Apparently Memorial Day kind of threw a kink in her plans as she would have liked to schedule it for May 25th! So, we'll see what happens. I don't know when she will officially tell us, but I will definitely update then!

I think that's all the important stuff! Pregnancy has definitely set in!!!! HEARTBURN, backaches, tiredness, snoring REALLY loudly (Charles is officially on the couch I think :), having problems getting off the floor after playing with Emily, having problems holding Emily :(, Emily has discovered that my lap is not as comfortable as it was...we are blaming the rocking chair, people I DON'T KNOW touching my stomach!!! I am just not one of those people who LOVES being pregnant. If you are, more power to you....don't get me wrong, I LOVE the end result but wish it could be a little shorter and more comfortable :)

Grilling Out!

Tonight we took advantage of the nice weather and grilled out for the first time this season....well, since the ice storm :) It actually ended up that a cold front was coming through and so it rained and the temperature dropped 30 degrees...but Daddy and Emily grilled cheeseburgers :)

Emily also helped set the table tonight for the first time! She was so proud of herself! You can't really tell from the picture, but she put a fork, knife and napkin at each place and carried all of the cheeseburger fixings from the fridge to the table all by herself! She is getting so grown up!!!

Riding Her Tricycle

This past week the weather was SO NICE! Emily and I spent several afternoons outside riding her tricycle. She has been "riding" it for a while, kind of pedaling, kind of pushing, but last week she actually started riding it! She pedals and steers at the same time :) We did have a few tip-overs but she would just say "Uh oh" and get right back on....no tears at all! She is doing so good! Here are a few pics and a video (the video has lots of wind noise on it...sorry!!!)!

New Gymnastics Class

Back in January we decided to switch Emily's gymnastics classes. The class we were in was a Mommy & Me class that was totally wearing me out....and I didn't have to do that much, just chase Emily around :) So, we decided to move her into a new class at a new place where Mommy could watch Emily do gymnastics :)

It all happened pretty quickly one morning. I called the new place to see when there would be a spot open for her and they said she could actually start that day! I told them I didn't think that would work and would need to check with the old place to see what worked for them. So, I called the old place to see how much notice they needed before we quit and they said that we could quit that day! So, I called the new place back and we started class there at 10:30 that morning! We picked that class because Emily's friend Lily was in it and Mommy's friend Tracey would be there too!

Emily seems to really like it! She has asked a couple of times about her Old Miss Katie (the teacher at the old place) and if we are going back there, but that was just back when we first started. They do the bars, trampoline, beam, floor, etc. every week so she gets a good variety! Mommy really likes it because I get to go upstairs and sit in the "stands" and watch Emily :)

This past Monday was a pretty funny day at gymnastics. It started off about 15 minutes into class with Emily running across the gym yelling something to me. As she got closer I could tell she was yelling "I've got to poo poo! Mommy, i've got to poo poo!!" So, I ran downstairs and we went to the bathroom and took care of business :) Gymnastics is the only place where Emily still wears a pull-up. She always goes to the bathroom during class and her pull-up is always dry, but it makes me nervous to put her in panties! Anyway, funny thing #1.

They always play different music during class. Sometimes it's Disney songs, sometimes it's Christian rock and sometimes its kind of rock/dance songs. Well, the past Monday that is what it was. The song "Who Let the Dogs Out" comes on the and Emily just starts going crazy! "Who Let the Dogs Out Mommy, it's Who Let The Dogs Out, Woof, Woof" :) She's all dancing around and singing and everyone is just cracking up! I was laughing so hard I was crying. My friend Tracey was like "That is the funniest thing I have ever seen!" I quickly explained to all the other Mommy's sitting there that Emily had gotten a Hallmark card that played that song for Valentine's Day :)

Anyway, here are some pics from her new gymnastics class. They are a little dark, but I think you can see them.
Playing in the castle!
Learning how to do a cartwheel.
Swinging "like a monkey"!
Doing the mermaid like Ariel! This is one of Emily's favorite things!
This is a toddler eliptical machine....too cute!

Big Girl Bed!!!

This weekend was a big weekend at our house! We didn't plan for it to be, it just kind of happened. We started Saturday morning working on cleaning out the extra bedroom, aka Emily's New Room. Well, she started asking questions about what we were doing and why. So, we decided to tell her that this was going to be her Big Girl Room. She got so excited about it, asking if she could sleep in it that night and take a nap in it and everything. So, we decided to let her go ahead and "move in" on Saturday while she was all excited about it!

I had set a goal of next Friday because I wanted to get it all perfect before we actually moved her; however, she is happy as a bug in a rug with only a bed and a dresser in there right now :) We don't have any pictures on the wall or anything! We moved the curtains from her baby room into the new room to help with the light situation, and we thumb-tacked a beach towel over the top window :) It looks pretty tacky from the outside, but it helps with the sun in the mornings! We all know, we don't want her getting up with the sun in the mornings! We did move everything from her closet into the new closet so that is nice! EVERYTHING (which if you had seen that room and closet you would understand :) that was in that room is now on Charles' side of the garage :) We decided he will have to leave his car outside for a little while until we get everything organized!

She is doing so good! She has taken her nap and slept in there everyday since Saturday! I was really worried about her getting up and roaming around; but, I just told her when she wakes up to holler at me and I would come and get her. So, she'll say "Mommy, i'm awake now" :) It's so cute! I just can't believe that it's going to be this easy....i'm waiting for the bump in the road! Anyway, here are some pictures of her in her Big Girl Bed in her EMPTY Big Girl Room :)

All ready for her first nap!
See how empty it is :)
Ready to read before her first night!
All snuggled up under the "warm, cozy covers" :)

Hello....Paintbrushes!!!

Today Mommy and Emily had a nice relaxing day at home! I don't know if it is a good thing or a bad thing that every morning when Emily wakes up she says, "Where are we going?" So, today we had the day "off". We had quit an eventful day! It started off outside at 8:20 in the morning trying to see Daddy's plane land - which we realized we missed when Charles called to say he was here and we were still outside :). Then we fixed bacon and eggs for breakfast and Emily discovered that she likes fresh raspberries. Then we read the ENTIRE book of Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes! Then the queen showed up for a visit. Still not sure exactly where the queen came from or who she is, but she apparently was here all day and had to have her own piece of PB&J sandwich for lunch! Then we played beauty shop and fixed each others hair. Then we painted - the point of the whole post, which I elaborate on below! Then we had lunch, read some more Nursery Rhymes and took naps....woo hoo :) Oh yeah, and we fixed dinner in the crock pot all day!

So onto the point of the post (I am sorry, this is looking like an Aunt Vicky Post :) So for about the last year and a half, ever since Emily discovered the art of painting, it has been a big hassle and MESS for her to paint. We had to strip her naked, strap her into her booster seat, watch as she finger/hand painted the paper, the table, herself, the booster seat, etc., run her to the shower and hose her off as soon as she was done! Then her painting would turn into a big brown mess because she would just mix all the colors together on her paper! Needless to say she loved to paint and I hated for her to paint because I knew the mess it would turn into; therefore I very rarely let her paint!

That is until now.....someone invented paintbrushes for this very reason!!!!!! Why it has taken me a year and a half to think to buy paintbrushes at Wal-Mart (to which we have gone EVERY week of the last year and a half) I have no clue! But this week at Wal-Mart I actually remembered to buy Emily some paintbrushes and today we had our first experience with them!

Emily loved them, I loved them, everyone was happy :) It is still a bit more messy than her Color Wonder Markers (thank you to Aunt Vicky and Uncle Jeremy) but not nearly as messy as finger/hand painting! Also, her picture turned out very colorful and bright and cheery :) And she also got the hang of switching paintbrushes for each color very quickly.

So, I thought i'd share some pics of her creating her first paintbrushed masterpiece! She has already told me that one is for her bedroom door, one for her bathroom door and one to take to Daddy at work....in that order :) Enjoy!

Painting so nice and clean!
"Hi Mommy!"
Her 3 finished Masterpieces - so nice and colorful!!!

Potty Training Update

While I don't have a picture for this post, I do have VERY GOOD NEWS!!! Emily has not had an accident since LAST SUNDAY!!! Yes, it has been over a week since she has had an accident! I just can't believe how well she has been during potty training! We started on Saturday, January 17th. So, we are in our 5th week. The first 2 weeks were really great! Then, the ice storm hit and with all the excitement and guests she kind of forgot about going in the potty! However, since then she has done REALLY good!

She still wears a Pull-up during naps, at night and during gymnastics. Her Pull-up is always dry when she gets up from her nap so it would probably be OK to sleep in panties...I am just not that brave yet :) The same for gymnastics. She usually goes to the bathroom once or twice during class and they Pull-up is always dry but I am REALLY not brave enough to try gymastics in panties yet! Her Pull-up is still wet at night so I think it will be a little while before we can wear panties at night!

Anyway, I just wanted to share her good news! She has just done such a good job and I am so proud of her!!!!
